This progressive development brought a geo-exchange community energy system to a low rise neighbourhood in north Markham supporting net zero objectives for the CIty. A partnership between the City of Markahm, Mattamy Homes and Enwave Energy, PRIME supported the collaboration including accessing Toronto Atmospheric Fund investment in due diligence.

Plan 2050 for the Winnipeg Metropolitan Region

As Principal Consultant, PRIME led the planning team for development of the Regional Growth and Servicing Plan for the Winnipeg Metropolitan Region’s first 30-year regional plan.

Circular Economy Framework & Policy

City of Barrie
PRIME's current work in sustainability planning includes a growing focus on the circular economy. Working with the City of Barrie, PRIME developed an action plan to transition the City towards a circular economy. Focused on priorities for the City, the plan provides actions and policy to effect change through opportunity and responsibility.

Savings by Design Program Review

Combining forces with with RWDI and Quadrangle Architects, Prime worked with the team to complete a review of the Enbridge building incentive program, Savings by Design. The plan defined leadership in building design, supported a net zero climate change agenda and was well aligned with other programs.

Prime provided strategic support to advance flood protection and planning for resiliency in an important downtown core of the City of Brampton. Prime also led a workshop process to define resiliency objectives for the Riverwalk project, bringing together international and local experts, staff and stakeholders.

Master Planning Don River Mouth Naturalization and Brownfields

This project included neighbourhood scale sustainability, approvals for flood protection and contaminated brownfields, with complex stakeholder engagement and integration of the winning design competition for the river mouth. Innovative approvals for brownfields, leading sustainability requirements, including a carbon tool and design for climate positive development.

The team created a value-driven plan, solidified the approach and operational expectations for action that could be achieved by Waterfront Toronto or others. It catalyzed future waterfront revitalization and represents a community planning model with priority on action for resiliency and innovation, when technology is having an increasingly significant influence on cities.

The Waterfront Toronto Green Building Requirements were developed to drive green building performance and transform the market. This project introduced LEED to Canada, at scale and regularly updated performance, working collaboratively supporting the CIty of Toronto Green Development Standard advancement.

Recommendations and policy directions were made for the Official Plan Review that considered mitigation and adaptation in an integrated way, identifying interdependencies to maximize efficiencies and minimize investment risk.

One River EA

This complex project required broad stakeholder and agency consultation on approvals and First Nations engagement. A heritage natural river system through downtown London, it supported multiple recreational uses and the winning “Back to the River” design competition urban design elements, for a signature City legacy.
